Worship is not something we just do on Sundays or when we’re at church. It’s not just standing, singing and raising our hands. Worship is how we live moment by moment. Like breathing, every minute of every day, we worhip something or someone every minute. It’s how we were designed by God. He created us to worship Him. But worship can be impure, like breathing air filled with toxins and impurities. It can be with impure motives that we worship or we can simply choose to worship other Gods such as Self, Money, or Things. “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24). Do we live for Jesus or ourselves, guided by the Spirit or the world? Pure and selfless worship, walking daily in the Spirit, is what God desires from us. It’s as healthy to our souls as pure oxygen is to our bodies.
