(Week 2) Day 2 – What’s Pouring Out?

If you squeeze a bottle of honey, it’s inevitable that out will pour sweet stuff.  What happens when we are squeezed?  When put under pressure, what pours out of us?  Is it sweet stuff?  As a Jesus follower it should be fruit of the Spirit —“love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control,” (Galatians 5:22-23, NIV).  When provoked, do we respond with harsh words? “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing,” (Proverbs 12:18, NIV).  “Be careful how you live, you will be the only Bible some people ever read.”  (William J. Toms).  So bitterness, anger, gossip, impurity, or hatred should not be what pours out.  Even under pressure, we must allow Jesus to live out His presence in our lives through the gifts of His Spirit.  “God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us, “ (Romans 5:5, NIV)
