People come to know Jesus through the context of community. A commitment to unity in the body of Christ insures that community remains strong. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace,” (Ephesians 4:2-3, NIV). Working together to accomplish great things for and with God is inspiring to those watching and brings participants closer to each other and closer to Him. I recently heard the analogy comparing community to a river. Like raindrops that feed a river and keep it flowing, we contribute to community and God’s kingdom plan. What we have to offer may seem insignificant, but God uses all of our small “raindrops” to work together to accomplish His will. “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells,” (Psalm 46:4, NIV). With God as our source, we must continue coming together to be the river from which flows the healing, hope and love of Jesus.
