Entering into a new year, most people are ready for a clean slate. Maybe the past year hasn’t turned out as expected. We tend to measure success by whether or not we’ve fallen or made mistakes. The truth is God loves us, even when we make mistakes or when times are tough. His love for us is unchanging, redeeming and always there for the taking. When we find success in our own strength, we tend to go our own way. Through poverty, neediness, failure, and problems we rely on Jesus more. His power is made perfect in our weakness, if we just trust Him. If you are not a Christ-follower or have never experienced His love firsthand, that is the single most important way you could start this New Year. Ask Him to come into your heart and life and take control. Look to Jesus for strength and confidence. His mercies are new every morning, so make quiet time with Him a daily routine and priority. Everything else will fall into place.
