Let’s imagine we are children playing a game with our dad, or someone trustworthy. We are going through a maze. We can weave our way through for hours. We might finally find our own way out, but in this game we must trust our dad. He is standing on a platform over the maze and can clearly see the way out. It’s a competition, and there are several dads on the platform yelling. The key to success in this game is listening for the familiarity of our own dad’s voice and then following his directions. Isn’t that the way it is with God? We listen for our heavenly Father’s familiar voice by way of the Holy Spirit and then follow directions. Hearing, trusting, and obeying God moment by moment is success! We can know the sound of His voice if we choose to spend time with Him regularly, though other voices compete for our attentions. We can confidently get through this maze of life by faith and not by sight if we listen and trust God every step of the way.
