Inheritance

Have you ever become so busy in the daily routines of life that you forgot to recognize the gift of a sunrise or flowers growing in your own yard? The older brother, in the Parable of the Lost Son, who worked and tried to prove to his father his worthiness of his inheritance, may have never stopped long enough to see the awesome gifts he already possessed. One was the free gift of his father’s love and the other was his inheritance rights to all that his father possessed. It’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to earn God’s love. We can get so busy or complacent in our daily Christian lives that we forget about the gifts of our inheritance as children of God. We are redeemed, forgiven, loved, blessed, free, and favored. Our sin-debt was paid in full when Jesus died on the cross for us. We don’t work to deserve our inheritance—we work out of a thankful and willing heart. If you are not a Jesus-follower yet, ask Him into your heart. Pray believing in Jesus’ name and that He died and was raised to life for you, and you will become a child of God. Read: Luke 15:25-32; 12:29-32; Romans 8:28-32; John 1:12-13
