Words of Life

Have you ever had someone acknowledge your success?  It feels good doesn’t it?  Then, have you ever had someone discourage you in something in which you were  successful?  Who knows, maybe they were jealous or insecure?  Or perhaps you’ve been that person.  Have you discouraged someone intentionally or even without realizing it, perhaps by simply withholding a compliment.  Sometimes we choose to keep our thoughts to ourselves even if they’re positive due to our own insecurities.  Like life producing oxygen, our words have the power to give life or take it away.  “The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit” (Proverbs 15:4).  Paul told us in Romans that “God gives us endurance and encouragement.”  May our words be a lifeline of healing and encouragement reflecting the Spirit of God within us.

Read:  Romans 15:4-6; Proverbs 17:22; 1 Peter 4:8-11

Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.  Psalm 99:5

“May our words be a lifeline of healing and encouragement reflecting the Spirit of God within us.” This reminds me of our discussions about being a fragrant aroma. All of this is too timely for my week!! It does feel good to be acknowledged in our areas of success or when we do things right/well, but I don’t want my worth to be wrapped up in others’ praise. I want me sense of security and worth to be wrapped up in Jesus alone! Oh, I’ve got a ways to go and a feel a journal session coming on… :o)
