God in Three Persons

I wrote the following devotions for a message series called Text Me… this was for the weekend of  Easter 2010 at the Cove Church.

When my son Hunter was younger, he asked how God could be Jesus and the Father, and how Jesus could actually live in his heart.  “What does He do, just jump in there, Mom?”  I guess that is a difficult concept to wrap our minds around, even for most adults.  With Hunter I used the analogy of water.  It can be seen in three forms- liquid, solid, vapor, but all are still water. God’s presented Himself in three persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but they are all the same substance- God!  John reaffirms this in his gospel.  He refers to Jesus as the Word.  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:1, 14).  Jesus is the Word.  He is God plain and simple!  In the form of the Holy Spirit, God can “jump in” your heart and write the story of your life, if you let Him!
