My friend shared a story of her daughter playing with a friend. The friend had a cell phone. She would say, “Hold on, I need to text my mom.” She sent “texts” all day. Later, my friend found out that it was an old phone with no service. Don’t we do this sometimes? We play the part and go through the motions of being a Christian, but we aren’t really connected to our power source– Jesus. He intercedes for us to the Father. Having a relationship with Him enables us to be transparent examples to others of our faith. Instead of being like the little girl who appeared as though she was communicating with her mom, be genuine and do more than just “pretend text” with your life. First, make sure you are truly connected to the Service Provider, Jesus. If you haven’t already, ask Him to be the leader of your life. Then stay connected and real with Him in prayer and in His Word.
