This Mother’s Day I’m thinking about how blessed I am to have had a mom who taught me about Jesus at a really young age. I’m so thankful for that introduction, the most important of my life. Happy Mother’s Day mom. I love you.
Mother’s Day evokes so many emotions for me… joy, happiness, thankfulness to name a few. Today, my wonderful man made lunch …tri-tip, shrimp, the works, AND death-by-chocolate cake for dessert… then, he cleaned it all up and pampered me all day. WOW! And Hunter and Haley, my precious babies who aren’t really babies anymore, were right there “helping” him:) I’m such a blessed girl.
This is one of those days every year when I miss those women in my life that have passed on. Grandma Lucille and Aunt Evelyn are both with Jesus, no doubt. But, my flesh can’t help but long for another hug from them, to spend another day with them. How my heart misses their beautiful smiles and desires to see them again.
As I remember and relate, my heart aches for the women who want children and for whatever reason can’t have them. We went through a season of infertility and all that goes with that. I know the emotional trauma. It’s hoping every month that this will be the one…. and the let down of it not being the one. Month after month after month waiting, hoping, praying, and trying to trust God for His timing knowing He knows best. But the pain of wanting a child so badly and not being able to have one can become grueling after a while.
During those years, I could relate to Hannah, Sarah, and Elizabeth in the Bible. Not in their timing, but in God’s perfect timing, He faithfully gave them the desire of their hearts. He gave them children and what a blessing they were. Each of those children, were set apart by God and played vital roles in God’s kingdom plan. Each have a significant story in His word.
I want to encourage you, if this is you and you can also relate to those women. Wait for God’s timing. He knows what He’s doing. Trust Him. Pray and ask for the desires of your heart believing Him for the answer that’s best. Trust that His plans are better than yours, higher than yours.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
Take heart that you’re not alone. Whether you are overcome with joy or sadness today, God has an incredible plan for your life. Maybe you are struggling with infertility or maybe you too have women in your life that you miss… know you’re not alone.
If you still have your mother, love on her. Love her like Jesus. Delight in her. Share a special memory with her that means something to you. Or tell her how she helped shape you into the special person you are today.
