Spiritual Gifts (Day 3)

My husband and I have been married for 15 years, and from the first week of our marriage, he’s said, “My casa, your casa!”  He implies that what belongs to him also belongs to me, and vice versa.  In a similar way, when the Holy Spirit takes up residence inside of us, we gain the benefits of having what is His.  He chooses which gifts best suit us and fulfills His plans for our lives.  Then, we’re privileged to be His vessels to edify, or encourage the other parts of the body (the church). So, were we born with our spiritual gifts?  Not exactly!  Also, some spiritual gifts are underdeveloped and may take time and effort to recognize and develop.   Paul (Saul) was an educated Jew who taught people to hate Christ-followers.  After his conversion, his ability to teach was Spirit-empowered and transformed, and he became an instrument to reach people for Christ!  We were specially designed with specific innate qualities for a purpose, though not all people use their abilities for God’s glory.  When the Holy Spirit resides in us, our natural God-given capabilities and personalities combine with His supernatural presence to create our Spiritual giftedness.  He empowers what we already have and accomplishes things beyond our imaginations or natural abilities!
