Yesterday and today my prayer has been one of wanting, needing, pleading…Show Yourself to me today. I know You see me, but I want to see You!
I receive a couple daily devotions through email. My quiet time with God is strategically random. Some days I prefer reading devotions from a book. And often I prefer only reading God’s Word. You can imagine, my inbox is filled with unread devotions. I don’t delete them. Instead, I randomly read them. God will speak regardless of the date at the top of the page.
Yesterday I just spent time with Him and in His Word, then wrote a blog about Nathanael, Hagar, and the Samaritan woman. El Roi, God who sees… we have intimacy with God.
Today, I opened yesterday’s devotion sitting unread in my inbox. The verse…
She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me’ (Genesis 16:13, NIV)… Hagar!
My mouth dropped open… I read on to the bottom. Last example…
“Jesus met a woman… As he talked to her by a well, He said, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life’” (John 4:13, 14 NIV)… Samaritan woman!
Written differently…my post yesterday and this devotion were the same! I almost couldn’t believe my eyes!
He sees me alright, and loves me enough to humor me.
Overwhelmed, I heard Him saying…
Look, either way, you were going to receive My message yesterday… I see you. You got it! Now, do you see Me?
