World Changer Wednesday With Suzanne

Today I’m starting something new.  I’ve been praying about it for some time.  Every first Wednesday of the month I’m going to highlight women who are making a difference right where they are by saying yes to God.

My hope is that you will be encouraged by their stories and courage to say yes.  These are ordinary women like me and like you!  God is using them to do extraordinary things.  Why?  Not necessarily because they are the most equipped or qualified, but because they are willing and available!

World Changer Wednesday is the name of my once-a-month-first-Wednesday blog post.  Let it inspire and encourage you to step out.  Do what God’s asking you to do.  Let Him empower you to do the things you can’t in your own strength.  If you say yes, He will!

Meet Suzanne Stewart.  Suz is a dear friend of mine.  A fellow-nurse… though we never worked together… and a kindred spirit.  As she shares a little of her heart, let her words light a fire under you.

“If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” Isaiah 58:9b-10

I love chapter 58 in Isaiah!  It’s inspirational, challenging, motivating.  Sets your heart on fire, right?  Well, it does mine.  Spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the need of the oppressed!!

For most of my life I’ve wanted to help people.  To make a difference.  To help the poor.  Help the sick. Help at school.  Help at work.   Just help.  I prayed for God to give me opportunities and He did (and continues to)!  Over the past several years, my heart has created a huge place for international missions. Why?  I don’t really know.  But what I do know is that there are no words to explain the perspective and heart change that happens when you go out on a mission trip to help and serve others (regardless of where it is).  When you get rid of all selfish ambition and motive.  When you think of others before yourself.  When you see how people live, outside of your own tiny bubble.  When you hear people’s stories.  See people’s cultures.  When you choose to love regardless of differences.  There’s nothing like setting aside all of our daily worries and fully abandoning our plans to God’s!  Nothing like seeing the Spirit move!  Nothing like face planted prayers!  Nothing like fully trusting and relying on Him!  Nothing like helping people and making a difference!  Nothing like living out Isaiah 58! Nothing like going on a mission trip! Have I talked you into it yet?  🙂

This year, God has given me the opportunity to travel to Bolivia to serve in an orphanage (Bolivia Life Center) through an organization called Children’s Impact Network (CIN).  I will be doing various construction projects at the orphanage, administering health screenings to the boys at the BLC, and partnering with the local church helping them conduct daily Sidewalk Sunday Schools for nearby villages. Ask God to open your eyes, mind, and heart for an opportunity, and I guarantee you He will.   ~Suzanne Stewart

I know Suzanne would love your prayers for this trip.  You can contact me through email at if God prompts you to support Suzanne financially.

She is a point of light for the women of her times and an inspiration to many who will follow. Will keep her close in my thoughts.
