She plays and plays, and everyday is progress. Practice makes the keys press down harder. New chords come with new days. New days come with new confidence. “Do you think I can play for someone famous someday, Mom?”
“Absolutely, honey! I believe you can and will do anything you set your mind to. Ask God. Ask Him what He wants you to do. If it’s play for someone famous, then it’ll happen. Remember if you play for Him, you’ve already played for the most famous One! Whatever He has for you is going to be more epic than anything you can dream up on your own.”
Seems there’s an epidemic in our society of wanting to be important, and desiring to change the world. God put it there from the beginning. Greatness. We are made in His image. Because He’s great, we were designed to be. Deep-seated there’s a knowing, realizing we are made for something more.
I talk to women almost everyday who are ready to go. Ready to jump on the next train going…to who knows where. To do something. Anything. Whatever will make them great and God even greater.
I love the passion He’s placed in us for more.
He’s a God of MORE. Exceedingly, abundantly more.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above (more than) all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” ~Ephesians 3:20
And for Him who is able to do more… we wait.
What is it that burns passionately in you?
Maybe it’s related to your story. If it fires you up and causes your heart to sing when you talk about it, then you’ve found your thing. God will use it.
Here’s what we don’t like to hear.
There’s a process. Most of us want what we want, and most times we get what we want right now. It’s not like that with God. Sometimes it is, but not always.
Get acquainted with the process. Enjoy walking with God from point A to point B. Honestly, the journey is as important (if not more) than the destination.
We reason that we KNOW our destination, so why not just go?
Mostly because we don’t want to get ahead of God. The most beautiful gift of today is having Him right by my side. If I stumble a little, He’s there to pick me up and dust me off. Who wants to get where they know they’re supposed to go without Him or His blessing? I know I don’t! Without Him it would be meaningless.
If He has promised. He IS faithful! He WILL do it in His time.
You were created for more. Don’t fall into comparing yourself with me, or anyone else. Believe me, there’s only one me, and that’s a good thing. 😉 And guess what! There’s only one you. And
YOU are special.
YOU have something no one else on the planet has.
YOU are called to higher things.
The surest way to mess it all up is to take our own path, in our own time and strength.
NO!!! Let’s wait on God. It’s a much more peaceful, restful, and sure way to make it to the destination on time.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. ~Isaiah 55:9
Enjoy the Lord. Enjoy today. Enjoy the road from A to B. Realize you are living it already.
When Carole Ann (my bestie) and I get together, we’re normally not sure where we’re going for the day. We always greet one another with hugs. We relish in friendship. Within seconds we say, “We’ve arrived at our destination!” It doesn’t matter where we’re going as long as we’re together. We just love being together with the Lord. We know our time is going to be filled with lots of laughter, maybe tears, revelation from God, and probably little ministry opportunities through the day. The destination isn’t the point. It’s the hours from the beginning of the day to the end that we’re more concerned with.
It’s the same with God. Enjoy Him. If you’re in His presence, you’re already there. HE will give you the go for ministry today and everyday, moment by moment. Surrender to the now. Ask the Spirit to guide. Ask for wisdom. Ask Him to counsel you. Allow God to prepare you for what’s ahead.
You’ll do the thing.
Whatever it is. But really you’re already doing it. Find contentment in it.
You ARE made for more.
…for more than comparing yourself to others.
…for more than always wanting to be someONE, someTHING or someWHERE you’re not.
…for more than striving to make something happen in your own time and way.
Now is such a beautiful gift. Relish it.
Rest in the now. Enjoy Jesus. Laugh with Him. Cry with Him. Be held by Him. Be led by Him. You’re at your destination. And THAT will change the world.
