Do Something

Rioting. Shootings in schools.  Divisions in homes, churches, and on the streets.  Wars and rumors of wars.  Sickness.  Bankruptcy.  Sex trafficking. Routine killing of unborn babies.  No big deal, just another procedure like the removal of a wart or something.  What is America and this world coming to?

Hurricane Matthew is plowing through the east coast right now.  The entire southeastern seaboard has evacuated inland.  Think God is getting our attention?

The more I dwell on what’s happening in our country, the more nauseous I get.  It’s probably a good thing for it to make me sick.  The sicker we are, the more likely we are to do something.

I want to encourage you today that none of this is a surprise to God. He’s still on His throne.  He sees it all.  He is able to change the direction of things, to do a course correction.  But we have choices that will affect our direction.  Our choices have consequences and may or may not always align with His will.  We CAN partner with Him to do something.  We can be a part of changing the course of direction for our homes, cities, and country.

We can push back the forces of darkness and evil with prayer. Invade heaven with requests and petitions. He tells us to come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need.  Don’t hesitate to talk to Him. He loves you.

We can show God we’re serious by fasting. God responds to our desiring more of Him than food, or anything else. It doesn’t have to  be food.  Anything that would be difficult to let go of, for example, social media.  Spend that time with Him in intimacy.

We can praise God in the midst of these storms. He is able. When things seem hopeless, He’s the Hope. With God the impossible is possible. Thank Him and praise Him for the good in our lives.

The thing Americans are most fixated on right now is the coming election.  PLEASE VOTE.  One of the worst, most irresponsible things we can do is not vote at all.  Our country was founded on religious freedoms as christians.  It was founded on covenants and promises with God. It was founded on freedoms to be governed under the authority of God.

“In God We Trust” is going by the wayside while we play fantasy football and get our nails done.  Seriously!!!  We have responsibilities. Adult, grown up responsibilities. Let’s wake up and get to them.  Government was created to keep America free.  We have to do our part to maintain those freedoms by voting for people who are aligning themselves with the will of God.

“Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption.

If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature.

If the next centennial does not find us a great nation . . . it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”  James A. Garfield- (20th US President)

Those words were spoken over 100 years ago.

With that said, here is a link to voter registration.  If you haven’t registered yet, please do so right away.  The deadline to register is October 14, 2016.  It’s right around the corner.

Do something. Love, love, love. Shine the light of Jesus. Whatever fires you up is more than likely the thing you’re called to. Take steps with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to be obedient in the things God is asking YOU to do.

If we each do our part, we can make a difference.  We can make this world a better place.

Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a reproach to any people. ~Proverbs 14:34
