Great Adventures

I’m gonna make this quick.  If God tells you to do something, no matter how scary or outlandish it may seem, do it.  First, make sure it was His idea. A good idea isn’t always God’s idea.

If you’re not sure if it was you or Him, it’s not too difficult to ask Him to confirm. He’s capable of the impossible and totally attentive to you and the smallest details of your life.  If He can hold the stars in place and remember them all by name, I can promise you a little confirmation isn’t too much to ask.

He says, “I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, is anything too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27

With that said, He will not leave you alone in it if it belongs to Him.  He’ll breathe life on it and birth it at just the right time. All you have to do is say YES Lord, and show up.

How do I know?  I’ve lived it.  I’ve seen Him in action too many times. He’s parted the Red Sea in my life more than once.  I’ve been able to witness many miracles. He often positions me to do things I never dreamed in a million years were possible. Why? Because I’ve said, “Ok, let’s do this.” I’ve trusted His abilities in and through me to accomplish what I can’t on my own.

Keys to breakthrough:

Show up.

Resting in His ability and not your own..

BE willing to work.

Pray and press in with Him. Ask Him for what He already wants. Align your heart with His.

Surround yourself with prayer warriors who will stand in battle for you and encourage you when you want to quit.

Don’t look back. Keep your gaze fixed on Jesus and move forward. The adventure will be great if God’s in it

I’m in the middle of a great God adventure. He asked me to write another book, so that’s what I’m in the process of doing now. (More on that later.) He said He wanted me to go away for two weeks to write.  I wasn’t sure of why He said two weeks.  I could definitely think of all the reasons this would probably not be possible. But I could think of no good reason not to at least ask Him for it. I said, “Lord, if I heard you right, I’ll need you to show me by providing. I need it to work out with my family’s schedule. I’ll need a hidden place with wifi, so I can work and focus on hearing You.” I laid my requests before Him, and soon after praying, I had 3 different people with very generous hearts offer me places to get away.  I think that’s what we would call confirmation.

As I write this tonight, I’m listening to the sound of waves crashing in a beautiful, hidden getaway called “Haven.” Haven has a story all it’s own. More on that later as well. Perhaps in the book.

So if God called you to it, He’ll bring you through it.  He’ll provide all you need and even a few things you just might want, because He’s so generous and good like that.

All this to say, isn’t it beautiful of God to ask us to work with Him (that alone blows my mind),  and then He makes it so fun in the process?  NOTHING is too hard for Him.  We often have too little expectation of what He can and will do, and what WE can do with His help.

Thank you so much! I’m late reading, but God knew I needed this today. So absolutely true, but sometimes in the midst of the adventure I look at the rapids and wonder what God’s doing and how he will make a way through. I pray blessing for you book and retreat coming up in the spring…God is good and he is doing great things!

And thank you from me as well, Rivera. I’m Laura’s husband, Brendan, and she blessed me today forwarding your post to me. Laura’s and my ‘rapids’ are a fledgling, arm-flailing, new business start-up. Trusting God to break through, believing on Him to do so, and, gratefully receiving His encouragement via your obedient post. Thanks again and God bless.

Thank you Brendan. God loves your trusting Him with arms flailing. He can do something with that. I will be praying with you and Laura, trusting God for your breakthrough. God has such good things in store for His babies, especially those willing to follow Him with great expectation.

Thank YOU so much. Laura. I apologize for being so late in responding. I understand rapids. I’ve been writing for the past six weeks. There have been many moments of wanting to quit and of being afraid to continue. Thank you for prayers. It’s exciting anticipating all God has planned. Are you guys still in Florida? I sure hope our paths will cross someday.
