A Little Follow UP

I can’t write a post like I wrote yesterday and not follow-up.

Clearly, we are very divided as a country. This is sad and makes me sick to my stomach. We are in the midst of the biggest spiritual battle our country has ever faced.

I have committed to praying for both of these candidates and will continue to do so. Regardless of who wins this election, God is still on His throne.

Hope has a name. JESUS.  If we put our hope in anything less than Jesus, we’ll always come up short. He’s the hope of the world.  Neither of these candidates has the answer to all of our problems.

In the last few hours of this election, may we as Christians get on our faces before God in genuine prayer. Seeking His face.  Seeking His answers.

Esther called her people to three days of fasting and prayer before she went in to ask the King to protect and save her people. God heard her. He had mercy on her.  She could’ve been killed for even going to the king without being invited first.  But the king loved Esther and extended his scepter to her. He said, “Esther what is it? Up to half the kingdom and it is yours. All you have to do is ask.”

This is the hope we have. This is the power we have, when we pray with belief and go before the King of Kings. Fasting and prayer engages heaven. Let’s take our requests to the courts of heaven. May we bow low and set our faces toward Jesus. When we confess our sins and fix our eyes on Him, it moves His heart. When we take our requests to Him with genuine trust, He will have mercy.

Let’s present our case to our Righteous Judge, who is seated on His throne.  We can dismantle the tactics of the enemy who is trying to create division, hatred, bitterness, and offense in our hearts as individuals, and in our beloved country.

This is a follow-up.  Follow the One who’s UP.  The One with the answers. The only One with the ultimate plan. With the help of the Spirit of God Himself, may we rise above what we see in the natural and ask Him to give us heavenly vision. We need grace.  We need humility.  We need the ability to see beyond. He desires a country unified, with hearts turned back to Him.

“’Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”     ~1 Corinthians 2:9-10

Lord, forgive us for pride, judgment, division, unbelief, bitterness, hatred, sexual sin, murder, gossip and anything else that does not reflect You.  Forgive these candidates for the harsh words spoken against one another. Forgive us for harsh words spoken against these candidates. We choose to love one another, for love covers over a multitude of sins. We fix our eyes on You, Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. I pray peace for our country, and I ask you to open the eyes of our hearts that You might be revealed to us with more clarity. God You are still seated on Your throne, high and lifted up. Give us eyes to see the way You see and hearts to love the way You love.

“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.” ~1 Corinthians 4:5
